Our Story

Phenomenally was created to Enlighten, Educate & Empower!

The goal is to aid in the Enlightenment of our community by promoting the importance of following your path and reaching for your goals. We want to Educate everyone on the brilliance and beauty that is the black community. This will result in Empowering every melanin-rich person to believe in themselves and that they too deserve to be successful in life. Even when wondering if you really belong on your chosen path, we are here to let you know  --- You Belong!

Our aim is to promote black excellence and by doing so, giving our community a voice. This idea came directly from my life.

I had a dream for a long time of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA). While it has been great setting that goal and accomplishing it, the further I stepped into this professional world, the further I drifted away from the atmosphere I know and had grown accustomed to. Although I expected this to an extent, I did not foresee the isolation that came with being an African American PA. The looks of surprise on my patient's faces when they see me and learn I will be the provider treating them today. The further surprise when they learn I graduated from a very good (and predominantly white) school. The subsequent quiz-to-see-how-much-she-really-knows that follows. I feel if there were more black people, and women in particular, in these positions that hopefully this wouldn't happen as often. Hopefully in the professional world we could feel more included when our numbers grow.

With all that in mind, I decided to create this line mostly to encourage black education and promote the picture of the educated, successful, brown-skinned person. However, over the years this vision has changed. I have learned it’s not only those in the academically professional world who feel alone and need an ally. I created this line to enlighten the community of black brilliance being exhibited every day, to educate them on the past, present, and future, and to empower them to no shy away from their destiny. I do this in the hopes that one day, we all can truly believe we belong in the room and at the table.
